Why Hand Wash Matters Here
Drive-through car washes use spinning brushes calibrated for throughput, not paint safety. In Salinas Valley conditions — dust, pollen, agricultural residue — running a contaminated car through a friction wash drags abrasive particles across the clear coat and creates the swirl marks you see in direct sunlight.
Our foam cannon pre-soak lifts contamination before any contact with the paint. The two-bucket hand wash method uses fresh microfiber towels that trap particles rather than drag them.
The clay bar step then removes bonded contaminants — brake dust, tree sap residue, and embedded road film — that washing alone cannot address. Wax or sealant is the final layer, protecting the work we just did.

The Standard Exterior Detail is a thorough hand wash — great for regular upkeep. The Premium Exterior adds clay bar decontamination and a hand wax or sealant application. Clay bar pulls bonded contaminants from the clear coat that washing cannot remove; wax provides a protective layer that repels water and UV. If you want protection and not just clean, the Premium Exterior is the right choice.
Every 6–8 weeks is ideal for Monterey County vehicles. The coastal salt air and Salinas Valley dust are hard on clear coat — regular wax application keeps the protective layer intact between deeper services. Between premium exteriors, our Standard Exterior Detail keeps the surface clean without stripping the wax.
The hand polish step removes light surface swirls and minor water spots, but deeper scratches require our Paint Correction service. If you have significant paint damage, we can combine services or recommend the right approach when we arrive.
